A combination of science and botanical ingredients help firm skin and smooth lines and wrinkles.

Conditioning moisturizers help attract and retain vital moisture in the skin.

Helps to even skin tone by reducing the look of acne scars, dark spots and hyper-pigmentation.

Free radical-fighting antioxidants defend skin from environmental stress that can cause inflammation and damage to collagen and elastin.

Acne is caused when oil, hair and dead skin cells clog pores. Ingredients such as Salicylic Acid and AGP Complex help stimulate cell turnover to curb breakouts.

Improved texture and proper product absorption is due to exfoliation. When the surface layer of the skin is removed, fresh skin is revealed and can absorb active ingredients easier.

LG-Retinex – a microencapsulated retinol for drier, sensitive skin – encourages skin renewal to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and imperfections.

For those with severe gluten sensitivities or Dermatitis Herpetiformis, rest assured this product is gluten free.

Apply a small amount to freshly cleansed and toned skin as tolerated every 1-3 nights, working up to nightly use. May be followed with moisturizer if additional hydration is needed. Protect your results by wearing sunscreen daily

We do not recommend this product for use in the AM as it may cause skin sensitivity to sun exposure.

When first using retinol serums, apply 2 to 3 nights a week before working up to nightly applications to avoid skin sensitivity

Serum 16 is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I really like this product. I have had acne / clogged pores all my life so I am very mindful of what I put on my skin (and my overall internal body health). This product is gentle, lightweight and quick absorbing. I understand everyone has different skin and therefore can respond differently to products. It never leaves my skin feeling dry. I apply it after cleansing and toning before bed. It exfoliates skin on a cellular levels so you are left with a noticeable glow due to less impurities and new cell growth. It fades acne scars / marks and uneven skin tone. I am a fan and will continue to use. I appreciate that it does't have a scent or color. Natural feeling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing product This product really works. Retinol is great for the skin and a lot of creams and lotions that contain it are drying and burn. For those who feel like this dried out their skin they probably used it too frequently too soon--my facialist told me to go slow and use it only once every 3 days and then slowly advance until I am using it everyday so that my skin could acclimate to the retinol. I've only been using it for a few weeks, but I can already see a difference. I have very sensitive skin as well as acne prone skin, so if this works for me i really do think this could work for anyone. I've used every cream on the market from differin, proactiv, retin-A to medications such as doxycycline and as strong as accutane. So I've really used a lot of derm products out there and this will now be one of my go to products! Try it! But definitely go SLOW!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I have had bad acnes since a teen (hormone imbalance issue). Now I am over 45 and still have acne and the scars remained. Since using Serum 16 daily for a month, my skin texture has improved and scars have faded. I have used Define, Refine, and Refine+ prior to Serum 16. So far Serum 16 seems to work the best. It hasn't irritated my skin like Refine+ did. Also, it is better value than Refine+.

What's the best moisturizer to be used with Serum16 or Define? Would Emulsion work well?

Asked by: Anonymous
Would this be for a daytime or evening moisturizer? For daytime, if you are using a product with retinol (Define) or Retinaldehyde (Serum 16), SPF is imperative. With that, Hydrate+, Peptide Rich SPF 50 or Reflect would be recommended. They are all different but provide an SPF of at least 17. For evening, Emulsion would partner well with either product. It is one of our heavier moisturizers so if you live in a climate with harsh winters or have dry skin, Emulsion is a perfect partner. Note: We do not recommend using Serum16 and Define together as it is too strong for most skin types. Defy, which does not have retinol as an ingredient can be used along with Serum16 either layering under it every other night or alternating.

What percentage of pure retinol does this product contain?

Asked by: Anonymous
Serum 16 features LG-Retinex, which is a blend of both Retinol and Retinaldehyde resulting in a 16% ingredient. It is the closest one can get to a prescription level Retinol.

Is this safe for women who are pregnant/breastfeeding?

Asked by: Anonymous
As Serum 16 contains both Retinol & Retinaldehyde we recommend that it not be used during pregnancy. As with any product containing these ingredients, we advise consulting with your physician if you care to continue use while pregnant. P.S. Congratulations!

It is usually recommended that one starts using Serum 16 every other evening starting with twice a week. The frequency of use is dependent upon the need. Evening is when your skin is "repairing" itself so night time is the best time for use. Serum 16 can be boosted with Defy in the evenings. You can add Defy 2-3 times a week. We do not recommend combining Serum 16 with Define, Refine, or Refine+.

I honestly don't understand the difference between refine and serum--what r the specific purposes and results to expect from the two products?

Asked by: Anonymous
Serum 16 is a Retinol product, powered by LG-Retinex, and loaded with Vitamin E. Great introduction for dry, sensitive skin, even adult acne. Refine is a lightweight Retinol treatment, with AGP Complex at the heart of formulation. Oily skin will love this, and can be partnered with Clarity to treat oily skin suffering from breakouts.
